Position Overview
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor in Condensed Matter Physics (Department of Physics, Reference: 536535). The position commences as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the opportunity for renewal and consideration for tenure after a second three-year contract. Exceptionally outstanding candidates at the Professor/Associate Professor level may be considered for appointment on tenure terms, subject to approval.
Responsibilities and Teaching
Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, secure research grants, supervise PhD students, and serve on departmental or faculty committees. Demonstrated strong abilities in undergraduate teaching and graduate research mentoring are required.
Research Requirements
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related discipline and conduct cutting-edge research that aligns with and complements the current research of the Condensed Matter programs. The program covers low-dimensional quantum materials, correlated and topological matter, semiconductor optics, spin and valleytronics, as well as interdisciplinary areas such as cold atom physics, metamaterials, and nano-photonics.
Funding and Tenure
The appointment may be renewed and considered for tenure following the second contract, with renewal opportunities and tenure review subject to approval. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and university contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of the basic salary.
Salary and Benefits
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, along with annual leave, professional leave, and medical benefits. At current rates, salary tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
