In this role, you will lead and oversee the AML Operations team in Hong Kong, with responsibility for CDD, EDD, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring activities. You will manage outsourcing arrangements to ensure quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance, while setting the right tone from the top and driving a strong risk and anti-financial crime culture within the team. In addition, you will build and maintain a trusted partnership with the Hong Kong senior management team, acting as a key advisor and ensuring alignment between AML operations and business objectives.

You will report directly to our AML Regional Lead, based in Singapore ensuring close alignment with regional strategy and regulatory standards while benefiting from strong leadership and international exposure.

• Work with the AML Regional Lead as well as any relevant AML function heads in Europe to ensure robust implementation and ongoing delivery of outsourced activities.
• Direct performance management responsibilities for the team based in Hong Kong with the goal of ensuring a motivated and empowered team.
• Provide SME AML advice to stakeholders within the business (commercial, compliance, operations) in a collaborative and educational way.
• Ensure critical partners are aware of all potential financial crime risk exposure and consideration.
• Support the AML Regional Lead to drive consistency in operating standards across CDD related operations.
• Report to Senior Management on KRI and KPIs and associated trend analysis on a regular basis.

Things we’ll look for on your resume

To be the right candidate, you hold a relevant university degree and have extensive experience leading AML teams within correspondent banks and/or payment businesses operating across a global footprint. You bring a minimum of 10 years’ experience in an AML management role in Hong Kong, with deep subject matter expertise and a pragmatic, proportionate approach to reviewing complex client cases. You possess excellent knowledge of ML/TF risks related to payments, correspondent banking, and digital assets, particularly within the Greater China region. You demonstrate a strong understanding of the regulatory and legislative frameworks impacting PSPs, banks, and the virtual asset industry in Hong Kong. You are resilient and able to perform effectively under pressure and in environments with evolving priorities requiring minimal supervision. You are an accomplished people leader, you have strong performance management capabilities and the ability to empower your team, fostering a high-performance culture built on trust and accountability. You build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders and maintain an active network within the Hong Kong financial services community.
