We are now recruiting for a Responsible Sourcing Specialist (1 year contract) based in Hong Kong.

About the role

This role reports to our Responsible Sourcing Manager in China and work closely with five team members located in Hong Kong and South China. It plays an important part in delivering Tesco’s Responsible Sourcing strategy across our Home and Clothing supply base. You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to identify ethical risks, deliver responsible sourcing programmes and support improvements that protect workers and strengthen supplier performance. You will also help build supplier capability and contribute to a more responsible, future ready supply base. This is a great opportunity to gain hands on experience in global supply chains, stakeholder management and ethical compliance, with opportunities to visit factories across Mainland China and Southeast Asia.

The team you’ll work with

The Responsible Sourcing team is a global function with members located around the world, led by the Head of Responsible Sourcing based in Hong Kong. We work closely with colleagues in the UK and other stakeholders across hubs, including Commercial, Supply Chain and Technical.

You will be responsible for

• Assess and approve supply base suitability by conducting factory assessments, supporting new factory onboarding, monitoring supplier performance and facilitating the exit of poor-performing sites where required.

• Drive ethical compliance and risk management by supporting suppliers in completing ethical audits, closing non-compliances and implementing corrective action plans to meet Tesco requirements.

• Execute ethical performance programmes including ethical ratings, supply base analysis, target tracking and regular progress reviews to support responsible sourcing objectives.

• Build supplier capability and drive continuous improvement through supplier empowerment initiatives, improvement projects and sharing best practices that strengthen long-term ethical performance.

• Deliver supplier engagement activities by organising workshops, training sessions and communications to enhance understanding of Tesco's responsible sourcing requirements.

• Act as the ethical advisor for the supply base , partnering closely with Commercial and Technical teams to integrate ethical considerations into sourcing decisions and support supply base development.

• Monitor the effectiveness of responsible sourcing programmes and service providers through activities such as shadow audits, quality reviews and stakeholder feedback to ensure consistent standards.

• Promote collaboration, innovation and operational excellence by managing priorities effectively, identifying continuous improvement opportunities, sharing knowledge with colleagues and always acting with integrity in line with Tesco's Business Code of Conduct.
