Job Summary


To lead and assist in providing lending solutions in the Private Banking, across all the key footprint markets of Standard Chartered Bank for the ASEAN segment. In essence, to proactively propose bespoke financing solutions in meeting the requirements of our Private Banking clients, including helping to diversify and build their personal wealth. On the other hand, keeping an analytical view and assessment on the underlying risks whilst proposing mitigations to address such risks and upholding the values of Standard Chartered Bank.



Strategy
• To lead and support lending strategy for the PvB locally and globally
• Actively originating lending deals by providing client-centric lending solutions to the Private Banking, ASEAN clients. As the first line of defence, to ensure sufficient risk management.
• To enhance the understanding of lending by actively engaging with RMs and clients and market our lending products.
• Contribute to the team and overall PvB budget by actively closing new lending deals expeditiously.



Business
• To lead the analysis and assessment of bespoke financing trades with a balanced risk vs reward view. This would include analysing and evaluation of the underlying company from both a fundamental and technical level, transaction structure as well as trade economics.
• Actively engage senior stakeholders (both Business in Risk) on transactions and origination efforts.
• Achieve team and individual financial targets as assigned.
• Prepare appropriate client proposals, pitchbooks, industry updates
• Track market and general financial and economic developments
• Proactively identify and spear head initiatives / projects to enhance PvB lending product offering / platform
• Formulate strategy to grow the lending business for ASA region
• Collaborate with frontline, other support functions, business partners, and product specialists to deliver One Bank and provide effective client solutions.



Key Responsibilities
• Support the delivery of the Private Bank business' short and longer-term objectives.
• Ensure timely turnaround in tasks or u on-hand including enquiries from RMs and clients, ongoing reviews of existing accounts
• Support the team in annual renewal cases / reviews
• Meet clients and tailor lending solutions based on clients' needs and bank's risk appetite



Processes
• Support RMs in the credit process and perform tasks as per Global LST Rules of Engagement
• Take responsibility to comply with internal policies, procedures, codes and applicable external laws and regulations.
• Get involved and lead some of the development as part of the credit process upgrades



People & Talent
• Provide leadership / guidance to junior members of the team to improve their skillsets (technical or otherwise)
• Develop and groom junior members of the team into the future leaders and ensure contingencies in place (in terms of leadership).
• Help employ, engage and retain high quality people through providing guidance, empowerment, mentorship and constant feedback sessions



Risk Management
• Do what is right in order to avoid reputational risks and operational losses
• Gain thorough understanding of risk and control environment and drive rectifications as required.
• Ensure effective implementation of Risk Management framework in the team (risk appetite is clear and integral to the strategy with appropriate controls, and having effective processes in place to identify, manage, monitor and report risk
• Ensure systems and procedures are in place to safeguard the security, integrity and confidentiality of information



Governance
• Ensure that systems and controls are adequate and in compliance with Group and Business policies, procedures, standards and codes, including those governing all Risk types, Compliance, Operational Risk, Technology and Operations, Finance and Reputation
• Ensure (i) adherence to and (ii) team receives prompt and regular training on: the following Regulatory Compliance policies and processes (both on-shore & offshore, as is applicable) including but not limited to Treating Customers Fairly, Suitability, KYC, AML, CDD, AOD, AML, sanctions laws and terrorist financing, regulations, rules and standard business practices.
• Ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations.



Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

• Market Heads Private Bank (for ASEAN)
• Senior Credit Officers and Senior Credit Managers for Private Banking



Other Responsibilities
• Embed Here for good and Group's brand and values in Singapore / Private Bank; Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures; Multiple functions (double hats)
