The Office of Student Affairs invites applications for the post of Senior Student Housing Officer in the Student Accommodation Section, which manages around 3,700 on-campus residential places and provides comprehensive residential education in the context of whole-person development to students.
The appointee is expected to possess a strong sense of responsibility, excellent organisational skills, and a service-oriented mindset.The successful candidate will support the operational management of student hostels and accommodation facilities, ensuring the effective delivery of residence services and the provision of a safe, supportive, and conducive living-learning environment for student residents.
Responsibilities:
- Assume a leading role in the daily operation and administration of student hostels and accommodation facilities, ensuring the provision of efficient and high-quality residence services;
- Lead and supervise a frontline team, also oversee counter services, ensuring enquiries, requests, complaints, and accommodation-related matters are handled in a professional and timely manner;
- Liaise with internal departments, service contractors, and various parties on hostel operations and facilities management, and monitor contractor performance to ensure service quality;
- Support the implementation of new policies and procedures, exercise sound judgement in handling incidents, emergencies, investigations, and disciplinary cases in accordance with the established policies and procedures;
- Maintain accurate records and prepare operational reports, statistics, and management information to support service enhancement and operational review;
- Provide support to the University-arranged accommodation facilities as required; and
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- A recognised tertiary qualification or above;
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably gained in student accommodation, housing operations, property management, hospitality management, tertiary education institutions, or a comparable environment;
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, with the ability to lead teams, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and oversee outsourced service providers.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills;
- An excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua;
- The ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, strong sense of responsibility and perform effectively under pressure;
- Proficiency in common computer applications; knowledge of accommodation management systems or other information systems will be an advantage; and
- Willingness and flexibility to work outside normal office hours when required; and
- Applicants with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Student Housing Officer.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test.
The initial appointment will be made on a two-year fixed-term contract. Reappointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and satisfactory performance.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
