Actuarial Intern - Financial & Regulatory Reporting (HKRBC & IFRS 17)

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Actuarial Intern to join our team. This role focuses directly on two core pillars of modern insurance reporting: the Hong Kong Risk-Based Capital (HKRBC) framework and IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts. You will work closely with qualified actuaries, gaining hands-on exposure to actuarial modeling, balance sheet valuations, capital calculations, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• HKRBC Support: Assist in preparing quantitative impact analyses, monitoring Solvency Control Levels, and evaluating risk charges across market and operational risks.
• IFRS 17 Valuation: Contribute to the generation and review of CSM (Contractual Service Margin) roll-forwards, and financial disclosures.
• Reporting & Documentation: Support the compilation of regulatory submission reports, management dashboards, and technical documentation for audit compliance. Participate in ad-hoc projects, system enhancements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with finance, risk, and IT teams to refine reporting pipelines and streamline data feeds.
• Reconcile actuarial, finance, and source system data to ensure consistency and data integrity across reporting processes.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities related to actuarial and financial reporting.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced MS Excel (VBA is a plus).
  • Knowledge of programming languages (Python, R, or SQL).
  • Familiarity with data analytics, automation tools, and process improvement methodologies.
• Knowledge Base: Basic to intermediate understanding of life insurance product structures, reserve calculation, HKRBC statutory rules, and IFRS 17 accounting principles.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and fluent written and spoken English and Cantonese.
